Saturday there were reports of brief tornado touch downs in Jefferson Davis, Lawrence and Covington Counties.

The Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department received information of a twister in the Oakvale Community and also in the Ed Parkman Road area.

EOC Director Jocelyn Ragsdale reports no debris fields, damage or injuries were found.

Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency Director Shana Turnage said sheriff’s deputies found no injuries or damage in the Oakvale community which is also in Jefferson Davis County.

Considerable damage was reported near Mount Olive in Covington County, but no injuries.

In addition to the severe storms and tornadoes, widespread flooding occurred in southeast Mississippi where 3-5 inches of rain fell.
