Eley then followed Lott to the Palmetto Estates where the altercation continued and Lott allegedly shot Eley in the chest.

Eley was transported to Jefferson Davis Community Hospital and then Forrest General Hospital where he later died.

A bystander, Willie Daggins, was shot in the leg and was also transported to JDCH  and FGH. He is listed in good condition.

Investigators said Lott fled the scene in a 2004 white GMC Yukon, with licence plate JDG-609 and was considered armed and dangerous before turning himself in to the Sheriff’s Department around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

“We are thankful Mr. Lott turned himself in and we were able to work this case in a timely manner without putting anyone else in danger,” said Sheriff Ron Strickland
