The MS/AL game will be played in Montgomery, AL, on December 14, 2013.

AJ (Moore), as he is known, will bring his powerful linebacker talent to the Mississippi group, coached this year by Lance Pogue, South Panola’s Head Coach. Cornell Armstrong will play cornerback in the game bringing speed to blanket receivers against Alabama.

Only two other 2A players in the state made the team along with AJ and Cornell. They are Doug Lofton of Taylorsville who will play offensive lineman position and Taboris Lee of Choctaw County who will play defensive lineman.

In the Bernard Blackwell All-Star Game, played December 21, 2013, in Gulfport, Mississippi, will feature two of Bassfield’s speedsters.  Curtis Mikell, who ran a 4.38 forty at Southern Miss this past off season will play defensive back, and the Jackets offensive leader, Calvin Moore will play linebacker for the South Team.

Three other players in 2A made the South squad, Levarious Varnado of Calhoun City, James Keyes of Taylorsville, DeVonta Gates of Baldwyn.

This is has become a regular occurrence for the Bassfield Yellowjackets and is likely to continue for a while. Tradition, winning talent, and respect – that’s what makes Bassfield players so sought after.
