Funeral services were held November 16, 2013, at Shady Grove M.B. Church, Silver Creek, for Mrs. Ollie Mae Jackson, 87, who died November 7 at Oschner Hospital, Kenner, LA. Rev. Jerry Newton officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ollie Jackson was born to the late Fate and Beulah Sims. She was educated at Hollie Grove and Red Top Elementary School and attended Prentiss Institute High School.

She was a professional seamstress at Rutter Rex sewing factory from where she retired. She was a member of Shady Grove M.B. Church where she was a teacher of the mission ministry.

Mrs. Jackson was married to the late Robert P. Jackson. She was known for her radio broadcast with her gospel group, the Spiritual Carolettes that she managed for 40 years.

She is survived by son, Charles Jacobs; three grandchildren, Patrice Pittman, Donell (Artra) Pittman and Donna (Carry) Williams; six great-grandchildren.
