Etta McCaskill

Funeral services were held November 30, 2013, at Holisday Creek M.B. Church, for Mrs. Etta McCaskill, 72, who died November 21, at Wesley Medical Center, Hattiesburg. Rev. Robert Minor, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Etta Mc Caskill was born to the late Jesse and Lula McQuarte in New Orleans, LA. She joined St. John Fourth Baptist Church, which later became St. John Institutional M.B. Church. She was a member of the Gospel choir, The Ladies Charity and Beautifying Auxiliaries. She evacuated from New Olreans after Hurrican Katrina and moved to Prentiss with her daughter. She joined Hollisday Creek MB Church where she was a faithful member until her health failed her.
She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans, LA. She married Lionel McCaskill, her husband of more than 50 years; to this union two children were born, Sharon and Shelia.
Mrs. McCaskill was preceded in death by: brothers, Herman McQuarte, Alfred Hampton, Sr., Jesse McQuarte, Jr., Milton McQuarte and John Kelly.
She is survived by husband, Lionel McCaskill; children, Sharon McCaskill-Bridges of Prentiss and Shelia McCaskill of Clarksdale, GA; grandchildren, Zachary Wilson of New York, NY, Marlon Wilson of Wiggins and Nadine Wilson Jefferson of Hattiesburg; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy McQuarte London of Jefferson, LA; sister-in-law, Evangeline Fernandez of Donaldsonville, LA, and Rudolph McCaskill of Westwego, LA; special niece, Rose Trahan; one adopted daughter, Gwendalyn Rhines; two devoted friends, Mary Dawson and Jamal Dawson both of Bassfield.
