Ms. Veronica Faye Showers, 47, died November 24, 2013, at her home in rural Lawrence County. Services for Ms. Showers were held at Laird Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Shuan Blackwell of Brookhaven officiating. Interment was in the May Cemetery, with Laird Mortuary in charge of all arrangements.

Ms. Showers born to Ola Mae May Showers and the late Wilmon Showers in Independence, LA. After she moved with her family to Lawrence County, she joined the Fair Hill Church and remained a member until her death. Ms. Showers was reared and educated in the area, and worked much of her life as a poultry handler and pork processing technician.

Ms. Showers’ survivors include one daughter, Marissa Showers of Jackson; her mother, Ola Mae May Showers of Oma; three brothers, Larry May of Fountain, CO, Bradley Showers of Ashdown, AR, and Don Earl Showers of Oma; four sisters, Linda (Dennis) Davis, Sandy Showers, both of Oma, Wanda Moone of Beaumont, TX, and Georgie Showers of Hammond, LA; and three grandchildren.
