L.E. Baggett Funches

Mrs. L.E. Baggett Funches, age 86, died December 3, 2013, at her home in rural Jefferson Davis County. Services for Mrs. Funches were held on December 8 at Sweet Beulah Church of God in Christ, with Elder Marcus Butler officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery, with Laird Mortuary in charge of all arrangements.

Mrs. Funches was born into a family of eight girls and three boys to the parents of the late Walter Baggett and Daisy Rankins Baggett of rural Mississippi.

As a young woman, Mrs. Funches married the late Jim Funches of the Cedar Grove Community of Jefferson Davis County, and to this union no children were born. Mrs. Funches worked much of her adult life as a dietitian at the Jefferson Davis County Hosptial in Prentiss.

Later in life, Mrs. Funches united with the Sweet Beulah Church, where she remained a faithful member until her death.

Mrs. Funches’ survivors include three sisters, Katherine Adams of Ocean Springs, Elizabeth Oatis of Chicago, and Hazel Baggett of Mt. Olive; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
