Unity in the Community has chosen the veterans home in Collins as a beneficiary of Christmas spirit.

A handkerchief drive is being held to benefit the 146 residents of the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins. Unity committee members stress that handkerchiefs need to be new, not used, and urges everyone to donate this simple item that can mean so much.

Handkerchiefs can be dropped off by the deadline of December 19 at the Justice Court office located on the first floor of the Jeff Davis County Courthouse.

While dropping off handkerchiefs on Thursday, December 19, Unity in The Community invites all to join at 12:00 noon around the flagpole in front of courthouse for a moment of prayer and giving of thanks.

The Unity group is also inviting all that would like to join on December 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the veteran’s home in Collins to have fellowship and sing Christmas Carols.
