It’s a plane…it’s a meteorite…it’s a meth lab. Those were the guesses as to what neighbors in the Bunker Hill community might have heard and seen around midnight on Thursday as 911 calls came in about the unexplained event.

Emergency personnel had wrapped up a one-car accident on Highway 42 when they learned residents in the Robbins Loop area saw an orange ball and a streak of flame.

Bassfield responders along with Tri-Community from Marion County canvassed the area and interviewed residents. A Marion County Civil Defense plane was brought in to do a grid search of the terrain.

After a thorough investigation of the area where it was determined there was no evidence of a plane crash or burning building, the search was called off.
