Next time you think of driving to Jackson or New Orleans for the latest in fashionable styles, try Prentiss instead. DeLauria’s Boutique|Books|WiFi Café is now open to provide one-of-a-kind fashions. In addition to the smartly decorated store, owner Laurinda Brown-Johnson is also providing an area for free WiFi connectivity and a free cup of coffee.
The store specializes in semi-formal and formal wear and has only one copy of each design. As Brown-Johnson does not purchase her fashions in the area, she promises no one will be wearing the same dress. The store itself has been completed renovated; a wall of the latest in ultra high-heeled shoes could be mistaken for art rather than elegant footwear.
“Everything is under $100, except for leather,” says Johnson who emphasizes there are no fake knock-off designer brands in the store, but that prices are deeply discounted.
For those who have no fashion sense, DeLauria’s will shop for you. “I can find anything including special sizes,” says Brown-Johnson. The store is planning for their website to offer online ordering.
On the books and WiFi side of the store, there are plans for a book club to begin entitled “Words & Wine” to be held the last Friday of every month.
DeLauria’s is located at 1814 Columbia Avenue in Prentiss next door to State Farm Insurance. The hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 10:00-5:00 or by appointment.
