Jarvis Perkins, 21, of Silver Creek was arrested in the early hours of December 23 after the Prentiss Police Department received a tip that drugs were being sold by Perkins in a local motel room.
The Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Department supplied the tip that narcotics were being sold out of room number 121 at the Western Motel.
Officers with the police department did a “walk and knock,” according to Police Chief Harold Rhodes, by simply knocking on the door of the room. Perkins opened the door and allowed the officers inside.
After entering the room, marijuana, cocaine, and a .380 automatic pistol was found, along with $1,200 in cash. Upon placing Perkins in custody, with assistance from the sheriff’s department and the MS Game and Fish Commission, all of the evidence was seized by the Prentiss Police Department. Perkins was charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm. Initial bond was set and Perkins was released on bond.
