Funeral services were held December 30, 2013, at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, for Mr. J. D. Chambliss, age 86, of Prentiss, who passed away on December 27 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Interment followed at Indian Springs Baptist Cemetery in Laurel. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.

Rev. Ken Roberts officiated. Pallbearers were David Smith, Michael Sullivan, Bill Dobson, Justin Chambliss, Jackie Chambliss and Billy Joe Chambliss.

Mr. J. D. Chambliss was born on February 8, 1926, in Taylorsville. He was the son of Sidney Earl Chambliss and Sally Sullivan Chambliss. He worked as a floor hand in the Oilfield for more than 40 years. He was a member of Bassfield Baptist Church.

Mr. Chambliss is survived by his son, Billy Chambliss of Prentiss; his daughters, Mattie Smith of Petal and Lynn Chambliss; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Chambliss of Laurel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son and two sisters.
