Dixie Lanell Speights, age 72 of Prentiss, died on January 16, 2014, at her residence. Funeral services were held January 19 at Hathorn Funeral Home. Interment was in the Speights Hathorn Cemetery of Bassfield.

Services were officiated by Bro. Charles Lee Loftin of Calvary Baptist Church in Bassfield. Hathorn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Caleb Herrington, Colby Herrington, David Herrington, Dustin Herrington, Jacob Leonard, and Michael Perez.

Mrs. Speights loved gardening.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Griffith; mother, Jessie Crosby; brother, J.T. Griffith; and sister, Linda Griffith Bird.

She is survived by her husband, Conrad Speights of Prentiss; son, Earl K. Herrington of Prentiss; daughters, Misti Herrington Perez (Michael) of Prentiss, Phyllis Herrington Leonard of Tennessee; brothers, Gerald Griffith and Bobby Joe Griffith, both of Prentiss; sister, Sue Griffith Bird of Seminary; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
