L.C. Anthony

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Prentiss Baptist Church for Rev. L.C. Anthony, age 86, of Prentiss, who passed away on January 16 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Interment followed at Dublin Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.

Rev. Ben James, Rev. Robert Cooper, Rev. Buddy Keys, Rev. Tommy Broome and Rev. Jessie Holloway officiated. Pallbearers were Jonathon Parkman, Zach Mayhugh, Josh Anthony, Justin Young, Dean Letchworth, Barry Dickersen, Tommy Anthony and Rocky Arnold. Honorary pallbearers were all Covington/Jefferson Davis County Association Pastors, the Ingram Foster Sunday School class, deacons of Prentiss Baptist Church and Preston Williams.

Rev. Lonnie C. Anthony was born on February 16, 1927, in Scott County, MS. He was the son of Lonnie L. Anthony and Jeffie Pace Anthony.

He attended Mississippi College and New Orleans Theological Seminary. He served as a pastor for churches in Hazlehurst, Rankin County, Scott County, Jefferson Davis County, Covington County, Warren County and in Alabama. He retired after 51 years in the ministry. He officiated at numerous marriages and more than 800 funerals. He was a member of Prentiss Baptist Church.

Rev. Anthony is survived by his wife, Willow Dean Anthony of Prentiss; his son, Derrick Anthony of Oakvale; his daughters Renea Mayhugh of New Hebron, and Beth Royer of Oakvale; his seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his brother, Talmadge Anthony of Sebastopol, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, two sisters and four brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gideon’s, Prentiss Baptist Church or the Baptist Children’s Village.
