Danny Polk

Funeral services were held February 4, 2014, at Prentiss Baptist Church in Prentiss, for Mr. Danny Polk, age 54, of Prentiss, who passed away on February 1 at University Medical Center in Jackson. Interment followed at Prentiss Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.

Dr. Randy Rich and Rev. Ben James officiated. Pallbearers were Scott Polk, Greg Polk, Adam Polk, Brad Polk, Michael Polk, Mark Polk, Johnny Benson and Ricky Benson. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Fortenberry, Tommy Iovino, Keith Bridges, Kenneth Buckley, Jr., Jimmy Pace, Cecil Polk, Hiram Williams, Rudy McNease, Frank Miller, Mike Bayles and members of his Sunday School Class.

A native of Prentiss, Mr. Danny Lynn Polk was born on September 17, 1959. He was the son of Oscar G. Polk and Maggie Chance Polk. Danny was the ‘voice’ of WJDR, working as the station manager for 14 years. He was also a referee and worked with the Southwest MS Referee Association and the MS Private School Association. He was also a member of The Gideon’s International. He was a deacon, member and Sunday school teacher at Prentiss Baptist Church.

Mr. Polk is survived by his sister, Linda McPhail (Glenn) of Prentiss; his brother, Kenny Polk of Loganville, GA, and six nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Oscar Polk.
