Prentiss is in for a real treat this year at its 31st annual Run for the Roses being held April 12, 2014.  Brandon native Skylar Laine will be performing at the Longleaf Trace Park beginning at 11 a.m., after all races have concluded.

Laine was a contestant on the 11^th season of American Idol where she finished fifth in the competition. A graduate of Brandon High School, Laine has now moved to Nashville pursuing her singing career.

“I am very excited about coming to Prentiss and being a part of the Run for the Roses.  Thank you for having me and I hope that you will enjoy my music”, said Laine.

The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by the one-mile race and the ¼-mile pre-school run.  Other events scheduled that day include the 2^nd annual Antique Car Show and Longleaf Trace Arts & Crafts Market.
