Billy Fairley

Mr. Billy Fairley, age 52, died February 28, 2014, at his place of employment in Covington County. Services for Mr. Fairley were held on March 8, 2014 at Prentiss First Baptist Church with Pastor Ronald Barnes and Rev. Kevin Youngblood officiating. Interment was in the Prentiss First Baptist Church Cemetery, with Laird Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Fairley was the fourth child of 11 children born to the late Irene Fairley of rural Jefferson Davis County. He was a member of Prentiss First Baptist Church. Mr. Fairley was a 1980 graduate of Prentiss High School, and worked for 23 years at Rutland Lumber, where he died. In addition to being a highly regarded lumber inspector, Mr. Fairley enjoyed auto racing in his spare time, as well as being a dedicated family man.
Mr. Fairley’s survivors include his fiancée, Melissa Laird, of Prentiss; four sons, JaMarquis Fairley, JaMarius Fairley, both of Prentiss, Billy K. Fairley of Austin, TX, and Brandon (Erica) Cameron of Manhattan, Kansas; five daughters, Jasmine N. Laird, Nashekia (Jermiah) Johnson, Sophia Brown, all of Prentiss, LaToya (David) Thomas, and Lakisha (Daryl) Hall, both of Jackson; four brothers, Larry (Brenda) Hall, Jerry Fairley, Ronald (Cathy) Taylor, all of Prentiss, and Randy (Marilyn) Fairley of Seminary; four sisters, Florence Fairley, Michelle Fairley, Janie Louis, and Joann Fairley, all of Prentiss; 11 grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
