Prentiss Christian School teacher and Headmaster Danny Quick has been inducted into the Mississippi Economic Council STAR Hall of Fame.
The Mississippi Economic Council and its M.B. Swayze Foundation sponsor the Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) Program in an effort to encourage scholastic achievement among the state’s high school students.
The STAR Program has two specific purposes:
1.)Emphasize scholastic excellence and encourage greater scholastic effort among Mississippi students.
2.) Recognition of the teaching profession.
Each year, a school’s STAR Student will be asked to designate his or her STAR Teacher.
The teacher selected is, in the STAR Student’s opinion, the person who has made the greatest contribution to the student’s scholastic achievement.
Mr. Quick has been chosen STAR Teacher by his students five times while teaching at Prentiss High School and five times at Prentiss Christian School.
Each STAR Student and STAR Teacher is honored at the Mississippi Economic Council’s Education Celebration in the spring.
The STAR Hall of Fame honors teachers who have been named STAR Teacher 10 times. Fifty-nine teachers have been inducted into the Hall of Fame since 1985.
Mr. Quick has been a teacher at Prentiss Christian School for 15 years. He has served in the headmaster’s role for 14 years.
He taught previously at Prentiss High School for 11 years.
