Silas Anthony Myers

Mr. Silas Anthony Myers, age 18, died Thursday, April 24, 2014, as a result of injuries he sustained in an automobile accident in Covington County. Services for Mr. Myers were held on Wednesday, April 30, at New Jerusalem Apostolic Church with Pastor Melvin Hudson and Rev. Dr. James E. Turner officiating. Interment was in the New Jerusalem Cemetery, with Laird Mortuary in charge of all arrangements.
Mr. Myers was the son of Silas Myers, Jr. and Wendy Turner Myers of Bassfield.
At an early age, he joined the New Jerusalem Apostolic Church and remained a member until his death. Mr. Myers graduated from Bassfield High School and was currently enrolled at Jones Community College’s culinary program, and his life goal was to open his own restaurant. In addition to being a dedicated student, Mr. Myers also worked at Wal-Mart.
Mr. Myers’ survivors include his mother, Wendy T. Myers; his father, Silas Myers, Jr.; five sisters, LaQuinta “Que” Turner, LaQuita Myers, Kmiya Johnson, Amaya McNair, and Amirica Shelton; two brothers, Darren Turner and Dalvin Shelton; grandparents, Annabelle Turner, Annie L. Hinton, and Silas Myers, Sr; three nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
