The board will make the official announcement Wednesday, June 25, at 9 a.m.

Former J.E. Johnson principal Dr. Sametra Chisolm has also turned in her resignation and has found employment elsewhere.

The board has chosen Rev. Jason McLeod as the new principal of J.E. Johnson.

Mr. McLeod is a lifelong resident of Jefferson Davis County and comes back from Earl Travillion Attendance Center.

He previously held teaching positions at Carver Elementary as well as J.E. Johnson Elementary.

The board expressed an interest in building staff moral at J.E. Johnson as well as building a better relationship with the kids and the community.

In comparison to other schools, “I don’t believe we are too far behind in Jefferson Davis County, especially in collaboration of administration,” McLeod replied.

“I am eager to get started and bring positive changes to J.E. Johnson and the community,” he added.
