Bennie Wayne “Buck” Jefferson

Mr. Bennie Wayne “Buck” Jefferson, age 57, died Saturday morning, July 5, 2014, as a result of injuries he suffered in an automobile accident on Cub Brown Road in rural Lawrence County. Services for Mr. Jefferson were held on Saturday July 12, at Oak Grove M.B. Church in Monticello, with Pastor Aaron Thompson of Mt. Pleasant MB Church officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery with Laird Mortuary, LLC in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jefferson was the son of the late Dewitt “Teddy” Jefferson and the late Eloise “Lois” Pittman Jefferson of Lawrence County. At an early age, he joined the Oak Grove Church and remained a member until his death. Mr. Jefferson was reared and educated in the Lawrence County area, prior to attending Alcorn State University for three and a half years. As a young man, Mr. Jefferson married Beverly J. Horton and to this union one daughter was born.

Mr. Jefferson’s survivors include his daughter, Raketta Jefferson; two sisters, Mazella (Gregory) Thomas of Vicksburg, and Mary Ann Jefferson of Monticello; two brothers, Harvey Jefferson of Flomation, AL, and Michael Jefferson of Brookhaven; two grandchildren, Edward Tramel and RaNyah Janee; and a number of uncles; aunts; nephews; nieces; and other relatives.
