Boys and girls in the area can take advantage of an opportunity to learn basketball techniques with NBA legend and Prentiss native, Al Jefferson, July 30-August 1, at Prentiss High School.

For the sixth year running, Jefferson will hold a basketball camp that will teach the sport of basketball and life for the youth.

Kids will receive 2.5 hours of fundamental basketball skills instruction, a camp T-shirt and other “Big Al” gear.

Al’s hope is to reach out to his community to encourage players to maintain a positive outlook both on and off the court through sports.

Al will also bring several star guests with him this year.

The camp is free and promises to be full of excitement.

All campers are required to have a completed and signed parental release form  before participating in any camp activities.

Campers should bring this form to registration the morning of camp, or one will be available for parents to fill out at registration.

You can also go to Prentiss High School at 2429 Mississippi Avenue in Prentiss, for more information.

Each day of camp, registration will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 9 a.m.  On Wednesday, registration for the junior high boys will begin at 12 p.m. and complete at 1 p.m. before the session begins.

Kids are urged to register early as space is limited for the event.
