General Election Nov. 4
Residents in Jeff Davis County may vote absentee on Saturdays beginning September 20.
On the ballot this year will be Jefferson Davis County District 5 School Board Post, 15th Judicial Circuit Court Judge, 13th Judicial Chancery Court Judge, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives and one state ballot measure.
The ballot will also include a special election for the offices of Jefferson Davis County Tax Assessor and Jefferson Davis County School Superintendent.
The Tax Assessor’s position became open at the untimely death of Sue Shivers Worthy earlier this year.
Kelley Ross-Brown is currently the Interim Tax Assessor as appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
Former School Superintendent Ike Haynes took a position in Canton, MS, leaving his position open.
The school board appointed John Daley as Interim Superintendent until the election.
Both winners of these positions will serve a one year term until the November 2015 election regularly scheduled for both offices.
The general run-off election will be November 25.
Official ballots for both elections will be published in The Prentiss Headlight at a later date.
