Funeral services were held August 30, 2014, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Bassfield for Mr. Jesse “Scott” Hatton, age 80, who passed away on Aug. 26 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Interment followed at Ebenezer Cemetery.  Masonic Rites were held at the graveside. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.

Rev. Macon Phillips, Rev. Jackie Cooke, Rev. Charlie Cook and Rev. Valton Douglas officiated.

Scott was born on Dec. 31, 1933, in Jefferson Davis County. He was the son of Thomas and Gaye Hatton. He was a teacher in the public school system and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was a mason for 50 years achieving Master Mason status.

He is survived by his wife Sandra of Bassfield; two sons, Tommy (Jan) Hatton and Jeff Hatton of Carson; his brother, Lewis (Virginia) Hatton of Lake Charles, LA; two grandchildren, Kristi and Brandi; two great-grandchildren, Jonathon and Kennedy; a host of nieces and nephews and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
