Deputy John Wayne Tolar has been awarded for his service by the Domestic Abuse Family Shelter, Inc.  Charles Howell (Left), a victim advocate and Law Enforcement Trainer for the Shelter, traveled to Prentiss to meet Tolar and bring the award.  “He did everything we hope that an officer will do and beyond.  His testimony led to a conviction and we are very grateful for that,” said Howell.  Tolar responded to a domestic violence call out of radio range with no back-up.  He found the victim severely injured, placed her in his patrol car and took her to the hospital.  He then went back and arrested the suspect. Sheriff Ron Strickland is shown presenting Tolar with the award.
