Funeral services were held Saturday, September 13, 2014, at New Zion MB Church, Oakvale, MS, for Mrs. Wanda Pearl Brent May, 50, who died Friday, September 6, at her residence. Rev. Alexander Norwood officiated with interment following in the May Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wanda May was born to the late Cassie, Jr. and Geneva Brent in Scranton, PA. She was a member of New Zion MB Church where she was a member of the choir. She attended school at Beulah Williams Elementary and completed high school at Monticello High School. After high school, she worked at KLH, Sanderson Farms and Walmart.

She was married to Sam May and later moved her membership to St. James MB Church.

She is survived by husband, Sam May of Oakvale, MS; three daughters, Antwaneshia Brent of Columbia, MS, Nakisha and Teresa May of Oakvale, MS; two sons, Kantrell (Jerrica) Brent of Brookhaven, MS and LaKendrick May of Oakvale, MS; mother, Geneva Brent of Oakvale, MS; three sisters, Sarah (Ervin) Gray of Mt. Olive, MS; Diane Ross of Oakvale, MS and Verrunia Brent of Columbia, MS; three brothers, Matthew (Rose) Brent of Scranton, PA, Rickey Brent of Oakvale, MS and Laterrell (Alecia) Brent of Valaparaiso, IN; goddaughter, Tammie Knight of Prentiss, MS; five grandchildren; sister-in-law, Linda (Perry) Rogers of Silver Creek, MS; three brothers-in-law, Alonzo Hamilton of Jackson, Gregory Smith of Collins, and Jeffrey (Carolyn) Smith of Bassfield; many other relatives and friends.
