Funeral services were held Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Friendship MB Church, Collins, Mississippi, for Mr. Johnnie B. Flowers, 83, who died Monday, October 13, at his residence. Rev. Timmy Brown officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Johnnie B. Flowers was born to the late George Washington (GW) and Willie Mae Flowers. He was a member of Friendship MB Church and attended Friendship and Mt. Pleasant community schools.
Mr. Flowers served two years in the United States Army. He moved to South Bend, Indiana, and later Detroit, Michigan, where he retired from General Motors Corporation. He later moved back home in 1991.
He is survived by daughter, LaJoyce (James) Gray; adopted son, Jonathan Flowers; god-daughter, LaJeaner Flowers; two god-granddaughters; one stepdaughter, Kimberly (Andrew) Hicks; one stepgrandson; one godsister, Geraldine Johnson of Prentiss; one sister-in-law, Arsena Flowers of Collins; one aunt, Willie Mae Dale; many other relatives and friends.
