The Saints hosted the Rebels of Heidelberg in search of the sixth win of the season.
The Rebels won the opening toss and elected to receive the kickoff.
Josh Daley’s kick was only for 15 yards and was downed by on the 45-yard line of the Rebels. HA got a good initial run on 1st down, but fumbled the ball to the Saints on the next play.
Prentiss began on their own 31-yard line. Austin Daughdrill and Blake Lightsey put together a series of runs that moved the ball all the way to the Rebel 33 yard line, but a good defensive stand by HA backed the Saints up. Facing a 4th and 14 the Saints elected to punt back to HA. Blake Greenlee’s punt hit and rolled into the end zone for a touchback.
After a two-yard run on the first play, the Rebels fumbled the ball back to Prentiss. The Saints got great field position on the Rebel 19 yard line. Daughdrill and Lightsey moved the ball to the 5 yard line, but consecutive losses and a quarterback sack gave the Saints a 4th and goal from the 16 yard line.
Tanner Hathorn hit Lightsey on a short pass that was carried all the way to the one-yard line. The Rebels would take possession there
Heidelberg put together a 6-play drive with the help of a personal foul and found the end zone on a 45 yard run off tackle. The two-point conversion run was stuffed by the Saints giving HA a 6-0 lead late in the 1st quarter
Heidelberg’s kickoff shot into the end zone for a touchback giving Prentiss the ball on the 20-yard line. The Saints lost yards on the drive and were forced to punt from their own 16-yard line.
Following a 32-yard punt and a 5-yard return, the Rebels would start from the Prentiss 40-yard line. The Rebels slowly worked their way to the 25-yard line, but a facemask penalty against Prentiss gave HA a 1st down on the 10-yard line.
Three consecutive stops by the defense and a deflected 4th down pass attempt gave the ball back to the Saints on the PC 10-yard line. Prentiss was only able to reach the 17-yard line before having to punt again.
Greenlee’s punt flew 28-yards, but was returned 8 yards giving the Rebels excellent field position on the Saints 37 yard line. HA reached the 33-yard line of the Saints before being stopped for a two-yard loss on 4th down.
The Saints got the ball back on their own 35-yard line. Greenlee hit Tyler Shivers on 1st down for a 33-yard pass to the HA 32 yard line. Prentiss was able to reach the 10 yard line of the Rebels before a loss and two penalties put the Saints into a 4tha and long situation on the Rebel 20.

Trailing 6-0, the Saints hit the field for the 2nd half hopeful. The opening kickoff was taken by Michael Goddard who only gained 1 yard to the Saints 26. Good runs by Hathorn moved the ball up to the 35-yard line, but the Saints were forced to punt on 4th and 1.
Greenlee’s punt went 36 yards, but the Rebels returned the ball 11 yards to their own 40-yard line. A blocking in the back was called moving the ball back to the 30-yard line of the Rebels. During a short run on 1st down, the Saints were charged with a facemask penalty putting the ball on the PC 46 yard line, but an unsportsmanlike penalty against the Rebels put the ball on the HA 45. Consecutive losses on 1st and 2nd down, as well as, a QB sack by Peyton Dungan on 3rd down forced a Rebel punt from their own 29-yard line. The punt was fair caught by Goddard on the Saints 39-yard line. A loss by Hathorn and two incompletions by Greenlee forced another Saints punt. Greenlee’s 39-yard punt was returned 19 yards to the Rebel 45 yard line. A long 1st down run, as well as, other short gains on the ground got the ball to the Saints 15 yard line. A holding penalty and run stops by the defense forced a 4th and 11 from the 16-yard line. HA attempted to pass, but Daley was there for the interception. He returned the ball 12 yards to the Saints 15 yard line. Hathorn, Goddard and Daughdrill ran the ball effectively all the way to the Rebel 25 yard line. Hathorn was sacked on 2nd down forcing a 3rd and 15 from the 35.
Greenlee found Goddard on the next play for a touchdown pass. Daley added on the extra point giving the Saints a 7-6 lead with 11:04 to play in the 4th quarter. Daley’s kickoff only went 9 yards to the Saints 49-yard line.

Hunter Sutton would chase down the long kickoff and return it 6 yards to the Saints 26 yard line. Prentiss mounted what looked to be a game changing drive, but the drive stalled on the Rebel 21 yard line.
A series of incompletions by Prentiss gave the ball back to HA. Despite added pressure, the Rebels were able to run out the clock and seal the win. The Saints fell to 5-4 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. Prentiss hosts conference foe Amite School Center this Friday night. With a Saints win, they will advance to the class AA playoffs. In addition to being an important game, it is also Senior Night and Tackle a Cure breast cancer awareness night.
