John Arthur Williams

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Prentiss First MBC for Staff Sgt. John Arthur Williams, age 59, who died Monday, October 27, at his residence. Rev. Ronald Barnes, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. John A. Willliams (Black Rock) was born to the late James Dixson and Teresa Rushing Williams.
He was a member of Prentiss First MBC. He joined the U.S. Army in 1978; and later joined the U.S. National Guard where he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. He worked at Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department, Bigg Bee Trucking and A&E Trucking.
He was married to Jessie Mae Oatis Williams and to this union, no children were born.
He was preceded in death by: son, John Arthur Payne.
He is survived by wife, Jessie Mae Williams; three children, Jasmine Mitchell of Prentiss, Priscilla and Princess Williams both of Hattiesburg; one grand-daughter, Zi’Khriunna Mitchell of Prentiss; six step-daughters; four step-sons; four step sons-in-law; one aunt, Mary Thomas of Jackson; two special cousins, Luresa Owens of Jackson and Betty Oatis of Prentiss; special friends, Garrick Oatis and Kenny Eshun both of Prentiss; many other relatives and friends.
