Marvin Johnson

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Zion Community Church of God for Mr. Marvin Johnson, 64, who died Monday, December 1, in Pascagoula, MS. Rev. Samuel Nelson officiated with interment following in the Christ Temple Church of Christ Holiness Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Marvin Johnson was born to the late Albert and Clay Lee Johnson in Oakvale, Mississippi. He was the second of seven children born to this union. He graduated from J.E. Johnson High School and Prentiss Normal and Industrial Institute in Prentiss, MS. He was brought up in the Church of God and accepted Christ as his personal Savior in his 40s. After moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, he united with Doris Street Church of God in Moss Point, Mississippi, where he served faithfully. He would make frequent visits to his home church, Zion Community Church of God.

He was employed as a pipe fitter at Ingalls Shipyard for 32 years when he retired. He met and married Diane D. Johnson and they took care of her cousin, Areaonna (Angel) Baker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane D. Johnson and his mother-in-law, Leanease Cabble.

He is survived by two step-sons, Leonard Cabble and Demetrius Huckabee; four brothers, Albert, Jr. (Kaye), James (Evelyn), Nathan (Versie), Wilbert (Maxine); two sisters, Laura Young and Martha (Isaac) Carter; six aunts; two uncles; two close friends, Pastor Samuel Nelson and Rex Magee.
