Patricia Ramey Speed, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of Hattiesburg, formerly a longtime resident of Prentiss, passed away Jan. 18, 2015, at her home surrounded by her beloved daughters.

Mrs. Speed was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Charles E. Speed, who died Oct. 3, 2014. Mrs. Speed was born Aug. 1, 1931, to Myra Patton Ramey and Paul A. Ramey in Oxford. She graduated from Port Washington High School, Port Washington, New York. She attended Sullens College, Bristol, VA, and The University of MS in Oxford.

Survivors include three daughters, Tina Chapman (Tom), Paula Meitzler (Lee), Marcy Borganelli all of Hattiesburg; one son, Charles E. Speed, Jr. of Natchez; one brother, Paul B. Ramey (Sharon) of Seattle, WA; one sister, Nancy Gutsch (Ken) of Hattiesburg. Mrs. Speed is also survived by her grandchildren, Ramey Hardin (Brent), Lowry Rush, IV (Kayla), Jill Williams (Leslie), Eric Meitzler (Casey), Madison Blue (Brock), Jennifer Mitchell, Cade Hathorn, Alex Borganelli, Hagan Speed and Brooksie Speed; seven great-grandchildren with three babies expected this spring.

Pallbearers were Eric Meitzler, Lowry Rush, IV, Cade Hathorn, Hagan Speed, Lee Meitzler and Tom Chapman.

Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Saulters Moore Chapel in Prentiss, MS. Reverend Sharon Ramey (sister-in-law) officiated.
