Delano Roosevelt Heggins, 78, passed away February 16, 2015, at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Funeral services were held February 19, 2015, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee. Interment followed in the Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

He was born on November 4, 1936, to parents Monroe Franklin and Minnie (Miller) Heggins.

Delano served with the 173rd Airborne in the United States Army. He was a sergeant 1st class. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Marien Heggins; son, Tim Heggins (Paula); daughters, Melody Heggins (Patrice Cavilier), Tracy Heggins, Lori Heggins (Brenda Quarles), Lisa Deckard; brothers, Hiawatha Heggins and Marion F. Heggins; sister, Virgie Lee; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny, Bilbo, M.L., and Ben Heggins; sisters, Margie May and Neal Heggins.
