Funeral services were held Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Shady Grove MB Church for Mr. Joe Parkman, Jr., 74, who died Tuesday, March 19, at Countrybrook Nursing Center, Brookhaven. Rev. Gary McInnis officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Joe Parkman, Jr. was born to the late Joseph Parkman, Sr. and Emma Wilks Parkman. He was the youngest of eight children. He joined Shady Grove MB Church at a young age and remained a member until his death.
He was married to Mrs. Darlene Magee and to this union seven children were born and they raised a nephew as their own.
Mr. Parkman worked for Koppers, Incorporated and Monticello Hardwood as a truck driver and lift driver until his health failed. He was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by wife, Darlene Parkman; three sons, John (Carla) Ezell of El Paso, TX, Joe (Darlene) Parkman of Silver Creek, and Earl Parkman of Reston, VA; five daughters, Sandra (A.D.) Madison, Linda (Amel) Armstrong, Bobbie Jo (Lawrence) Madison, Katina (Charles) Williams, Kristina (Lee) Rhodes all of Silver Creek, MS; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; many other relatives and friends.
