Howard Lee Herron, Sr.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Prentiss First Missionary Baptist Church for Mr. Howard Lee Herron, Sr., 71, who died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at his residence. Rev. Gregory Parkman officiated with interment following in the Green Grove MB Church Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Howard Herron was born to the late James and Mattie Herron in Jefferson Davis County, MS. He was a graduate of J.E. Johnson High School and attended Prentiss Institute Junior College. At a very young age, he joined Green Grove MB Church under the leadership of Rev. Dennis Spann. He worked in the church as an usher and junior deacon and as a trustee.

He was married to Louise Johnson and they shared 47 years of marriage.

He worked for Odeco Off-Shore Drilling Company, Jeff Davis Community Hospital and Johnson Funeral Home.

He is survived by wife, Louise Herron; two daughters, Denise (Eric) Mikell of Prentiss, Gloria (William) Brown of Columbus, GA; one son, Howard Herron, Jr. of Prentiss; three sisters, Erma Hall and Mary (Wince) Oatis both of Prentiss, and Mildred (Jeffery) Gray of Knoxville, TN; two brothers, Carvius (Jerri) Herron of Indianapolis, IN, and Charles (Mary) Herron of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
