Funeral services were held Saturday, April 4, 2015, at South Pleasant Hill MB Church for Mrs. Lillian Barnes, 87, who died Sunday, March 29, in Hattiesburg. Rev. Raymond Geeston officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lillian Barnes was born to David and Odell Daniels in Jefferson Davis County, MS. She attended Progress School and joined Progress M.B. Church. She served as secretary and church treasurer and was an active member until her health failed her. She was married to the late James Howard Barnes and to this union five children were born.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Willie C. Daniels and daughter, Virgil Barnes.

She is survived by four daughters, Darlene Fortenberry of Houston, TX, Virginia (Charles) Hicks, Francellia Lewis, Vicki L. Barnes all of Hattiesburg; son, Ray Barnes of Prentiss; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
