Funeral services were held Friday April 17, 2015, at Faithway Baptist Church in Bassfield, for Mr. Barney H. Bass who passed away on April 13 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Interment followed at Faithway Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.

Rev. Everitt Broome and Rev. Doug Barber officiated. Pallbearers were Ruvell Broome, Mark Graves, Christopher Bass, Dustin Broome, Kasey Broome and Bro. Brent Robbins

Barney was born July 30, 1936, in Jefferson Davis County, MS. He was the son of Robert E. Bass and Carrie Jackson Bass. He worked in the shipping dept. for Cantex Plastic Company in Columbia for 15 years. He also worked at New Orleans Furniture Company for 15 years. He was an avid squirrel hunter, and was a member of Faithway Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Bass of Bassfield; his son, Lavon Bass of Bassfield; three daughters, Patricia Broome of Sumrall, Peggy Nelson and Doris Graves, both of Bassfield; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Jack Bass of Vidalia, LA; two sisters, Jewel McInnis of Mt. Olive and Helen Boyette of Natchez.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and six brothers.
