Citizens that would like to vote in the upcoming election but have not registered will have the opportunity to do so until Saturday, July 4.
According to Circuit Clerk Clint Langley, his office will be open July 4, from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. This will be the deadline for those who have never registered to vote before, or those that have recently moved into Jefferson Davis County.
Absentee ballots will be accepted through August 1.
“We encourage everyone in the county to vote. These county elections can come down to just a few votes, so each vote is important,” said Langley.
As with the last election, voters will need a government-issued photo ID in order to cast their vote. Those that have expired within the last 10 years will be accepted.
If an individual does not have an ID, they can contact the Circuit Clerk’s office at 601-792-4231 for information on how to obtain one.
The Circuit Clerk’s Office will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
