Funeral services were held Friday, July 3, 2015, at South Pleasant Hill MB Church for Mr. Louis Armstrong, 60, who died Friday, June 26, at Methodist Hospital in Mansfield, Texas. Rev. Robert Collins, pastor, officiated. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Louis Armstrong was born to the late Daniel Webster Armstrong and Beulah Herron Armstrong. He grew up in Prentiss and attended J.E. Johnson Elementary School, Nichols Junior High and graduated from Biloxi High School. He completed his education at Jefferson Davis Junior College. He joined South Pleasant Hill MB Church at an early age and remained a member.
He worked at the U.S. Postal Service in Gulfport, Mississippi, before moving to Texas. After moving to Dallas, he worked as a real estate associate for many years at Century 21 Galloway-Herron. He later worked as a manager at Henderson’s Chicken and Grandy’s Restaurant and Freemans Decorators Union.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Claude Eugene Warner and Rev. Augustus James Williams.
He is survived by mother, Beulah Armstrong; wife, Andrea McMillan; children, Kimberly (Steven) Como and Lance Williams; siblings, Linda Armstrong O’Neal, David (LaWanda) Armstrong; five grandchildren; three uncles; three aunts; many other relatives and friends.
