Diane Price Whitfield

Funeral services were held at Saulters Moore Chapel on Monday, July 27, 2015, for Diane Price Whitfield who passed away July 22, at the Hope Center in Fayetteville, GA. Rev. Ben James officiated. Pallbearers were Joel Price, Paul Price, Vann Green, David Seward, Bill Whittington and Mike Evans. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Edwin Boleware, deacons of Prentiss Baptist Church and the Glad Hands Sunday school class of Prentiss Baptist Church.

Diane Seward Price Whitfield was born in Nashville, TN, on May 19, 1933, to James LeRoy Seward and Edna Mabel Abernathy Seward. She was the third in a family of five children – James, Charles, David, and Sandra.

Diane spent most of her childhood in Tullahoma, TN, graduating from Tullahoma High School in 1951. She received her nursing degree in 1954 from St. Thomas School of Nursing, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, becoming a registered nurse. She remained in Nashville living and working until relocating to Colorado. She then furthered her career at Rose Hospital, Denver, CO, until joining the Air Force where she became a flight nurse.

She served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1958, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. While stationed at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring, TX, she met Dr. Cassie William Price, DVM and they married in 1957.

At the conclusion of active duty service, they made their home in Prentiss, MS, on Rock Hill Estates. Diane continued working as an RN in Prentiss and then at the Price Veterinary Clinic. Together, Dr. and Mrs. Price raised three children, Joel, Paul and Jan.

Diane served in many fulfilling civic roles in Prentiss, including the Prentiss Baptist Church adult choir, youth summer choir and mission trips, and Sunday school officer. She was an active member and past president of the GFWC 20th Century Women’s Club in Prentiss for more than 50 years. Diane also volunteered at the annual Run for the Roses event. She enjoyed being outside at her home and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed traveling, cooking classes, and music and theatre events.

Diane was blessed to enjoy two wonderful marriages in her lifetime.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Cassie William Price, after 33 years of marriage. Diane was married to Dr. Daryle Ealey Whitfield for 19 years. Her parents and her oldest brother, James Seward, also preceded her in death.

Diane is survived by her three children, Joel Price of Huntsville, AL; Paul Price and wife Tanya, and son Reese of Missouri City, TX; and Jan Price Green and husband Colonel Vann Green of Peachtree City, GA; brothers, Charles Seward of Murfreesboro, TN, and David Seward of Tullahoma, TN; and sister, Sandra Campbell of Denver, CO.

Betty Robbins Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Robbins were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Society Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Young officiating. Interment followed in the Society Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Robbins, age 75, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord early Saturday morning, July 13, 2024, at the Forrest General Hospital. Saulters Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. The Robbins family received friends one hour before the funeral service, beginning at noon, Tuesday, at Society Hill Baptist Church. Pallbearers included Kelley LeNormand, Cymantha Shellenberger, Mason Robbins, Jenna Robbins, Frank Vice and Frank Vice Jr. Betty Robbins was born on June 6, 1949, in Magee, Mississippi to Walter R. and Margaret Jones Bishop. Mrs. Robbins was a long-time resident of Carson. She and her husband would go on to raise a happy family of six children that would multiply over the years with the addition of in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Robbins loved the country life and will be remembered for not only growing a yard full of beautiful flowers, but also a vegetable garden of which she fed her family. An animal lover, she also had dogs, chickens and hogs over the years. Mrs. Robbins was a member of Society Hill Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter R. and Margaret Bishop, her husband, Kenneth Terrell Robbins Sr; her daughter, Pamela Robbins; sisters, Patsy Holden, Margaret  Coble, Linda Hester and her brother, Richard Bishop. Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Billie Jo Williamson of Prentiss; sons, Kenny Robbins Jr. (Kathy) of Carson, Mikell Robbins (Kelley) of Palestine, Texas, John Robbins (Nicole) of Sumrall, Daniel Robbins, (Tanya) of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Ray Bishop (Nancy) of Magee and her sister, Myrtis Craig (Ed) of Rossville, Georgia. Mrs. Robbins also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
