Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Mae Christmas, 74, Mt Olive, MS, were held Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Friendship COGIC, Collins. Interment was in the Zionell CME Church Cemetery, Mt. Olive, MS. Elder George Fairley officiated the services. Reeves Funeral Home of Mt Olive was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Christmas passed away at Hillcrest Nursing Facility in Magee on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.

Honorary pallbearers were Calvin Doby, Bobby Doby Sidney Doby, Jimmy Doby, Larry Doby, Elie Doby, Willie Doby, and Jessie Doby.

Active pallbearers were Jessie Smith, George Jackson, Chris Doby, Jessie Smith, Jr., Andrea Jackson, and Charlie Brown.

Mrs. Christmas was a member of Mt. Carmel COGIC in Prentiss where she served under the leadership of Elder Bobby Gray. She was the mother of the church. She was employed for many years at Magnetek, Inc. in Magee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. and Annie Tatum Doby; sister, Essie Mae Brown; brothers, Levi Doby and George Lee Doby; and a granddaughter, Cassie Galin.

Survivors include children, Calvin (Carolyn) Doby of Mt. Olive, Larry (Wanda) Doby, Bobby (Diane) Doby, all of Collins; an adopted niece/daughter, Pamela Nnaji of Slidell, LA; five brothers, Elie (Rosie) Doby of Yazoo City, Sidney (Loudella) Doby of LeLand, Jessie L (Willie Jewel) Doby of Mt. Olive, Jimmy L. (Lavetta) Doby, Cincinnati, Ohio, Willie L (Willie Grace) Doby of Collins; four sisters, Allie M Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lula M. (Nathaniel) Easterling of Collins, Mary (Charles) Hubbard of Magee, and Martha (Claudell) Blackwell of Mt. Olive; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
