Hartzog & Burris exchange vows

Miss Rebecca Averell Burris and Mr. William Homer Hartzog were united in marriage Saturday, April 11, 2015, at one o’clock in the afternoon at Old St. Patrick’s Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. The ceremony was officiated by Father Tommy Conway of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Music for the ceremony was provided by Melanie Gardner, local New Orleans singer and Andrew Mills, a local New Orleans organist. Ceremony readings were performed by Elizabeth Hussey Courtney, aunt of the bride, Margaret Hussey Allen, aunt of the bride, Douglas Ellis, uncle of the bride, and Captain David Hussey, uncle of the bride. The bride’s parents hosted a reception at The Columns Hotel on St. Charles Avenue.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Richard G. Burris of Monticello, Mississippi. The groom is the son of Mrs. Margaret Davis Hartzog of Prentiss, Mississippi, and the late Billy Hartzog of Silver Creek, Mississippi.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory tulle and embroidered lace A-line Sincerity gown with a satin cummerbund waist, cap sleeves and a keyhole back. It was complemented by an ivory Bel-Aire cathedral length veil with alencon lace and rolled edge embellished with intricate flowers along the bottom edge. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of cream vintage roses with loose, airy flowers in shades of white, cream, bright green, and blush.

Mrs. Elizabeth McCrary of Hattiesburg, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Ginger Flake of Philadelphia, Mississippi, served as Matrons of Honor. The Matrons of Honor wore tea length gowns in pool blue satin. Each carried a hand-tied bouquet of cream vintage roses and bright green spider mums and trick dianthus.

Mr. Benjamin Steadman and Mr. David Fielder of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, served as Best Men.

The bride is a graduate of Lawrence County High School in Monticello, Mississippi. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and now works at Hattiesburg Clinic’s Connections as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The groom is a graduate of Prentiss Christian High School in Prentiss, Mississippi. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Business and is co-owner of L & H Building Specialties in Hattiesburg.

Following a honeymoon in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Becca and Bill now reside in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
