Fred Allen Durr, Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. Fred Allen Durr, Sr., age 79, of Mount Olive, MS, were held on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Point Pleasant Baptist Church, Mount Olive, MS. Interment was in the Durr/Weathersby Cemetery in Prentiss. Pastor E.R. Magee officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to Reeves Funeral Home of Mount Olive.

Mr. Durr passed away on August 23, 2015 in Jackson, MS.

Honorary ppallbearers were Javous Durr, Randolph “Woody” Woods and Elijah “Lil Boy” McNair.

Active pallbearers were Michael Brown, Jimmy Proctor, Clarence Cotton, Eddie Dean Johnson, Jeremy Durr, Courtney Durr, and Joseph Durr.

Mr. Durr attended school in Jefferson Davis County. He moved to Jackson, MS, in 1957 where he was employed as a bellhop at Noble Hotel. He later was employed at Evans Lumber Co, Jackson Roofing, Union Roofers Co., and Utica Power Plant. He returned to Mount Olive in 1979 and worked in Gulfport, MS, where he retired December 1997.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Zonia McNair Durr; seven siblings, Lee Artis Durr, Billy Joe Durr, James Durr, Joseph Durr, Javous Durr, Earnestine Durr, and a little sister who passed away in infancy.

Survivors include, one son, Fred Allen Durr, Jr. (Janis); four daughters, Ailleen Durr Proctor (Jimmy), Hywatha Durr Johnson (Eddie), Vivian Durr Davis (James), and Freida Durr; two sisters, Pauline Durr Hall and Willean Durr McNair, both of Gulfport, MS; special aunt, Georgia Ruth Boyd, Prentiss, MS; special friend, Doris Calvin, Seminary, MS; and a host of nieces nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
