Vermont Saulters Pierce

Funeral services were held Friday, September 11, 2015, at the Victory Baptist Church in Bassfield for Vermont Saulters Pierce, 94 of Bassfield, who passed away on Wednesday, September 9, at The Myrtles in Columbia.

Reverend Charles Broome and Dr. Nathan Barber officiated at the services with interment following in the Double Churches Cemetery in Bassfield. Music was provided by Jackie Lott and Wesley Lee. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins was in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers were Chuck Holland, James Graves, Tom Jeff Davis, Jeffery Lee, Dan Dyess, and Gary Coulter. Honorary pallbearers were Cliff Rutland, and Herlon Pierce.

Mrs. Pierce, a Covington County native, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joel Jasper Saulters and Sarah Frances Napier Saulters; her husband, Earl Pierce; two sisters, Irma Nell Hamilton and Mary Jo Davis; and five brothers, Willard Saulters, Jack Saulters, Gene Saulters, Denvil Saulters, and Edsel Saulters.

Survivors include her daughter, Foye Pierce Dyess of Bassfield; one granddaughter, Bridget Burns Lee, and her husband, Wesley of Bassfield; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Lee and John Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
