GirlTrek members participate in marathon

A few local area members of the national non-profit women’s walking organization called GirlTrek participated in the 9th Annual MS Blues Marathon in Jackson on Sat., Jan. 9th.

With approximately 4,000 participants  in various race categories, this year’s marathon paid tribute to the late blues legend, B.B. King who passed away on May 14, 2015.

Finishers of the Quarter Note & above received an award-winning finishers medal designed as a classic imagine of B.B. King.

Tasha Gardner,  Sheronda Cato, Stephanie Williams  & Margaret Barnes completed their first official half marathon (13.1 miles). Their team leader, Monica Cato-Brown, completed her first official full marathon (26.2 miles) during the event.

They are all very proud of having reached such milestones together and look forward to participating in more marathon events.
