Ronnie Joe Taylor, Sr.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Prentiss First Missionary Baptist Church for Mr. Ronnie Joe Taylor, Sr., 68, who died Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Regency Hospital, Hattiesburg, MS.  Rev. Ronnie Barnes, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ronnie Taylor was born to the late Chester and Eula Johnson Taylor in Jefferson Davis County, MS.  He attended J. E. Johnson High School.  At a young age, he became a member of Prentiss First Missionary Baptist Church and remained a member until death.  He served as chairman of the Deacon Board, member of Male Choir, member of the Brotherhood and was faithful to this church.

He was married to Bettye Ball Taylor. To this union, three children were born, Michael, Ronnie, Jr. and Timothy. One son, John Taylor preceded him in death.

He is survived by:; wife, Bettye; five children Curtis (Nesia) Lewis of Hattiesburg, MS, Roslyn (Dwight) Williams of Columbus, GA, Michael (Sheron) Taylor, Ronnie, Jr. (Torwando) Taylor, Timothy Taylor all of Prentiss, MS; one brother, Alvin Davenport of Memphis, TN; two brothers preceded him in death, two sisters, Etta Jewel Perry, Lynell (Dwane) Robinson both of Covington, LA; one uncle, Herman Taylor; one aunt, Arcola Johnson; 18 grandchiildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
