Funeral services were held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at New Zion M. B. Church, Oakvale, Mississippi for Mr. Darren Tyree Young, 32, who died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Song Health and Rehabilitation, Columbia, MS.  Rev. Aaron Thompson officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Darren T. Young was the third child of five children born to Miss Betty J. Young in Lawrence County, MS.  He attended J. E. Johnson Elementary and graduated from Prentiss High School in 2002.  He also attended Pearl River Junior College.  He worked for Ryals Roofing in Columbia, MS.

He was preceded in death by: grandparents, Caster and Mary Lou Young; two uncles, Mylon Young and Terry Young; cousin, Timothy C. Young.

He is survived by: mother, Betty Young; four brothers, Brian Young and Terrance Berry both of Oakvale, MS; Walter (Felicia) Berry, Jr. and Rodney (Lakia) Young of Prentiss, MS; stepfather, Walter F. Berry; aunt, Delbert Young; many other relatives and friends.
