GirlTrek is a groundbreaking 3-year-old national nonprofit that mobilizes women to live their healthiest, most fulfilled lives through a habit of daily walking. The GirlTrek pledge is to simply walk at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week.

It’s mission is to pioneer a health movement for African-American women and girls grounded in civil rights history and principles through walking campaigns, community leadership, and health advocacy.

Any and all GirlTrek members are invited to not only trek with us, but bring a family/friend along as well. The more, the merrier. When women walk, things change.

There are several different GirlTrek teams across the area, state and nation.

Women 18 & older are urged to join GirlTrek as a solo Trekker, join an existing team, or start their own team of 10 or more members.

Team TCT currently has approximately 85 members and is led by Monica Cato-Brown with Stephanie Williams, Stephanie Fairley & ChaKisha Jones serving as Co-Leaders.

Cynthia Thompson of Jackson, MS serves as GirlTrek Captain of the entire state of MS. GirlTrek’s goal is to have one million registered Trekkers by 2018.

In accordance with GirlTrek’s #28in28 Recruitment Challenge, GirlTrek Team TCT (Tri-County Trekkers) will be hosting a free walk on Sunday, February 28th, 2016, at 4:00 pm at LongLeaf Trace in Prentiss, MS (everyone will meet across from Regions Bank). We plan to walk 3 miles, but anyone can walk a greater/lesser distance if they choose to do so. Refreshments will be available.
