Funeral services were held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Mt. Zion Ora M. B. Church, Collins, MS for Mrs. Lonnie Mae Burkett Carney, 92, who died Monday, February 22, 2016 at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg, MS.  Rev. Micheal Evans, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lonnie Mae Carney was born to the late Vess Magee in Collins, Ms.  She received her education at Friendship rural schools in Covington county.  She joined Friendship M. B. Church at a young age, after moving to Collins, she united with Mt. Zion Ora M. B. Church and remained a member until her health failed.  She labored and retired from Collins Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by: husband, L. C. Carney, son, Benjamin McNair, siblings.

She is survived by: son, Charles (Bonnie) Carney of Collins, MS; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie (Armond) Barnes, Cassandra (Billy) Magee, Marchella Booth, Nickalous Carney, Charles Carney, Benjamin Davis and Christopher Magee; 6 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
