Funeral services were held Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Mt. Zion M. B.Church for Mrs. Mona Berry Scales, 63, who died on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at her residence.  Rev. Ozell White, pastor, officiated with interment following in the Berry Cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mona Berry was born to the late Johnnie and Maggie Ree Berry in Chicago, Illinois.  She attended school in Chicago.  She was a member of Blackmon Temple C.M.E. Church.
She was preceded in death by: sister, Paulette Berry, two brothers, Johnny Berry, Jr. and Lefti Berry; one niece, Maggie Williams.
She is survived by: husband, Harlan Scales, Sr. of Alabama; four sons, Cantrail (Belinda) Berry of Prentiss, MS; Harlan Scales of Prentiss, MS, Alton (Myra) Scales of Hattiesburg, MS; Joseph Scales of Gulfport, MS; three sisters, Evelyn Jeffries of Prentiss, MS, Dianne (Joseph) Barnes and Yvonne Qualls both of Bassfield, MS; two brothers, Joseph Berry of Chicago, IL, James Berry of Stone Mountain, GA; six grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
