Melissa Longino

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Springhill M. B. Church for Miss Melissa (Sal) Longino, 49, who died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center, Hattiesburg, MS.  Rev. Roy Thompson, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Melissa Longino was born in Prentiss, Mississippi to the late Larry Oaties, Sr. and Mrs. Irene Longino Oaties.  She attended school in Prentiss, New Hebron, and graduated from Covington High School.  She later moved to Bogalusa, Louisiana; after spending several years there she moved back to Prentiss, where she worked at Country Fisherman and Williams’ Good Ole Days Buffet.

She attended St. Paul M. B. Church.  She later met her spouse, Jessie Sands.

She is survived by: spouse, Jessie Sands, Sr.; mother, Irene Oaties; four children, Chenteal L. Hughes, Julienne Longino, Sierra Serrin and Jessie Sands, Jr; three brothers, Gregory C. Longino, Sr. of Folsom, LA; Larrie Oatis, Jr. of Covington, LA; Derrick Oatis of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Angela Miller of Oklahoma City, OK; three sons-in-law, Corey Armstrong of Prentiss, MS; Justin Serrin of Silver Creek,MS and Charles Hughes of Covington, LA; one daughter-in-law, Quatasia Gammage of Prentiss, MS; 4 grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
